Definisi Procedure Text

       Procedure text adalah jenis text yang bertujuan untuk menggambarkan suatu perintah atau instruksi tentang bagaimana sesuatu dicapai sesuai urutan atau langkah-langkah yang benar.

Dan biasanya judul procedure text diawali dengan “How to ….“. Contohnya misalnya seperti “How to Make a Plate of Fried Rice” (Cara membuat sepiring nasi goreng), “How to Use a Digital Camera” (Cara menggunakan kamera digital), dan masih banyak lagi contoh lainnya.

Beberapa ciri prosedure text adalah:
⦁    mengunakan Simple Present Tense (S+V1)
⦁    berbentuk imperative/bentuk perintah,
⦁    menggunakan action verbs, contoh: make, stir, boil, cook,
⦁    menggunakan temporal conjunctions, contoh: First, then, next, after that, last, finally

Tujuan Procedure Text

       Procedure text sendiri dibuat mempunyai tujuan tertentu untuk pembaca. Tujuan teks sendiri bersifat komunikatif. Tujuan dari teks prosedur adalah untuk memberitahu pembaca bagaimana melakukan atau membuat sesuatu melalui urutan tindakan atau langkah-langkah 

Jenis-jenis Procedure Text

Procedure text dalam bahasa inggris mempunyai beberapa jenis. Berikut ini ada 3 jenis procedure text yang harus Anda ketahui.
⦁ Procedure text yang menginstruksikan bagaimana melakukan aktivitas tertentu, misalnya, how to make a pencil case, how to dance, how to play vollyball.
⦁ Procedure text yang menjelaskan bagaimana sesuatu bekerja atau bagaimana menggunakan instruksi/operasi manual , misalnya , how to use a computer, how to record video, how to use a digital  camera. 
⦁ Procedure text yang berhubungan dengan perilaku manusia, misalnya, how to succeed, how to live happily, how to be a good person.

Generic Stucture of Procedure Text

      Procedure text memiliki skema susunan umum atau generic structure. Berikut ini generic stucture of procedure text:
⦁ Goal: memberikan informasi tentang maksud dan tujuan yang ingin dicapai
⦁ Materials: berisi daftar materi atau bahan-bahan yang dibutuhkan untuk melakukan suatu prosedur atau langkah-langkah.
⦁ Steps: serangkaian instruksi/aktivitas untuk mencapai tujuan dalam urutan langkah yang benar.

Contoh Procedure text sederhana cara membuat sandwich (Procedure text how to make sandwich)

How to Make Sandwich

Materials :

• Mayonnaise
• Butter
• Sliced Bread
• Mustard
• Lettuce
• Sliced Cheese 
• Sliced Ham
• Tomato 

• Butter Knife 
• Plate
• Cutting Board
• knife

Steps

- First, prepare all the ingredients and tools 

- The next, lay 2 slices of bread onto the cutting board.

- Then, butter the side of one piece of bread that is facing up, using the butter knife.

- After that, spread a small amount of mayonnaise on one side of the other slice of bread.

- Then, with the plain sides of the slices of bread facing down, place 1-3 leaves of lettuce onto the buttered slice of bread.

- Take 2-5 slices of ham and place on the same slice of bread the lettuce is on.

- Slice the tomato so each slice is about ¾ of a centimetre each. Cut as many slices as you would like for your sandwich.

- After that, apply mustard onto either slices of bread and spread the mustard onto the slice of bread with just the mayonnaise on it.

- Then, place 2-6 slices of cheese onto one of the two slices of bread.

- Afterthat, take the bread slice with the mayonnaise and place mayonnaise side down onto the other slice with the other ingredients on it.
-  Finally, your sandwich is ready to eat.
